Yes, Sally, I know of and personally experienced how kids today don't want mom's old stuff. Other than a couple of small crystal vases, I don't want my mom's stuff. Don't have kids but do have adult nieces and nephew. They don't want it either. But the rest of the story is that the 'greats' (the grandkids kids) are going to want to go retro and want the stuff. But I certainly don't want to store all of it for them.

Truthfully, I am not that excited about some things I got as wedding presents that seemed so important at the time- mainly to show myself I was 'now an adult'

Maybe. But in my case, as for decluttering, a lot of the stuff in the room I call my office would in no way make me feel proud. I have so many envelopes and other scraps of paper I've scribbled notes on when I'm on the phone or reading something on my computer that are hard to throw away until I can decipher them. Wonder how far they'd go if laid end to end.

Yes, Inhave seen that article..I copied it snd sent to bith kids...and said " Sell what you can and donate the rest" don't feel bad ..I don't care...
