Hello there,

A friend of mine is sending me some "Strelitzia Juncea" seeds. I do have "Strelitzia Reginae" and they are doing great in our climate but I never actually germinated the seeds. I did some Googeling and it doesn't give me a whole lot of answers on how to successfully germinate those. Does anybody have experience with Strelitzia seeds?

Thank You!

I've never germinated these, but did find something on the web that discusses it.

Very nice! I used to have several different ones in my yard when I lived in the Marshall Islands. They loved it there. Here they would take too much babying.

Thank You! plantmanager . They seem to be a difficult grower. I never seen this specie of Strelitzia here nor do I know people who have them.

It would be nice if you're the first in your area to have them. Good luck with the project! Please post some photos after they've germinated and are growing.

I would imagine seed germination for S. juncea would be about the same for S. reginae. Same with culture. Be prepared for to hurry up and wait, tho - S. juncea is a sssllllloooowwwwwww grower. I bought a nice healthy single fan 3 years ago and put it in the ground. 3 years later it's still a nice healthy plant at ...2 fans. Blinking

S. reginae is by no means a fast grower, but it runs circles around S. juncea!
