Dave, Do we have a Video Library ? Thought that might be a neat gardening resource.

We have no videos that I'm aware of. I took some videos and included them in the Stepping Stones article.

You can easily embed videos into your garden blog here. I think that's an excellent use for that application. Thumbs up

Speaking of video tutorials, what do you guys use to make your videos? I don't have a video camera. Only my 2 minute camera phone video capability. Always wanted to make a video.

Janice, I think this is a really fun idea, and one that Dave and I discussed before the site even launched (I told you all that we had tons of ideas!)

It isn't something that we can jump into right now, as we're pretty swamped with stuff, but I think it is worth looking into.

It would definitely motivate us if some of you started doing some, and entered them on your blogs. We can always move them into one central location easily enough! There's no way that Dave and I can make so many tutorials, and we don't want a feature that only has one or two items in it. BUT- if you all start making them, and they are good- we'll definitely look into ramping up the feature!

I know these are not videos, but rather Instructional how-tos:
the ones we already have could be organized under an instructional/tutorial heading rather than have them in Articles.
Such as Dave's stepping stones or the Beehive instruction...etc (there are quite a few instructional ones there already) ...you know the "How To's" in one place kind of thing..

I'd love to make some videos. Heck, I'd even settle for audios. However, I have no idea how to do them, what format to save them in, etc. I uploaded one from my camera to YouTube once, would it be as easy as that?

I'll go research this and figure it out (I hope). And when I grow up I'll buy a real video cam to make it extra special.

I see a time when ATP will have this feature...no doubt about it.

I took a short video of one of the hurricanes that came through here back in 2004. It was very short because I didn't stay outside long ... I was afraid of getting blown away! Big Grin

We took our videos with our little ipod touch device. You can take the video and upload it directly to youtube right from the ipod - no computer involved at all. That's a really nice feature and I love that about the ipod. But I wouldn't buy an ipod just for that.

I think there would be a market for someone to make a really nice video camcorder that can upload to youtube just like the ipod does. Or maybe some vendor should make a tablet PC like the ipod that has really a really high quality camera.

Having videos on ATP would be almost as easy as hosting the images, but the files are so much bigger that they seem to take an eternity to upload. So it's easier to put them up on youtube and embed them here. That will probably be the way to do it for the foreseeable future.

I can see making a video library at some point in the future, but we have other irons in the fire at the moment. Smiling

Uhh, yeh, it's still there but wasn't a garden tutorial or gardening related. But now that I know my camera does just fine with YouTube and that can be shared on ATP I'll see what I can do here.

Thanks for the info, Dave. I hope I get time to play with videos this winter, during my slow time.

Lee Anne, I hear ya!~ But my video was just a "nature moment", two black snakes sharing intimate time together, even snuggling afterwards. I thought it would be rare but after loading it I saw quite a few other vids of the same goings-on.

I'd like to do more tutorials, gardening videos, etc, and perhaps some "Horseshoe's Moment of Entertainment" which would probably cover many areas and topics. Will do that one day no doubt, and will be sure to get my blog going again as time allows.

Shoe (getting cool here today...brrrr.)
