Wow!
Nice sized tree, looks like a little hobbit house in the tree pic!

It is a bit like a little hobbit house - it's our wood shed! Hilarious! Hilarious! We have a thatched house and the wood shed is also thatched. Here's part of the house from the front (it extends out to the side) - kind of like a big hobbit house?

What a neat house. It would fit right in the 'shire'.

Love your house Mika!!! Wish there were more whimsical looking houses over here but too many people go boring. Hilarious!

Thank you, Amanda - it's an old, very characterful house. We love it - full of old beams, strangely shaped rooms, strange history (our dining room used to be a chapel), even a priest's door - although for me the garden is the real treasure. Sorry for the delay in responding - I've been in London for a couple of days; we saw a wonderful exhibition at the Royal Academy (abstract expressionism - lots of glorious masterpieces on loan from the US) and I went to a seminar on nature and wildlife photography.

DH flew to NY this afternoon for a few days; next week we go back to France, albeit for just a week. Smiling

Curious how old is your home Mika, thank you.

Sorry for the delay, RJ - been away in London. The house is a mix of ages, because part of it was burned down and then rebuilt. The oldest bits are over 350 years old, I think, but I will have to check with my DH when he gets back (he's in the US at the moment). Apart from the main house there is a brick-built former donkey stable which we converted into a summerhouse, and a couple of other outbuildings. I keep saying I should find the time to research the history properly... Whistling

On a walk with Plato (new route), came across these trees -

Although fall color has not been all that great this fall, a glance yesterday out the kitchen door revealed some color on my smoke tree. Even though it was somewhat overcast, I grabbed a shot from the yard entrance:

Today, the sky was clearer, so a few more shos:
Thumb of 2016-11-23/marsrover/f14da2 This one from the kitchen door, with my southern dogwood in support.
Thumb of 2016-11-23/marsrover/dd8612 With a bit of fill-in flash.
Thumb of 2016-11-23/marsrover/9f5aa8 The north corner dogwood; more subdued than my neighbors' back on 7 November.
Then, it was back into the house to continue nursing my chest cold.

Lovely, Robert - I especially like the one with the fill-in flash, it really brings out the colour and shape of the leaves. Sorry to hear you have a cold - don't risk making it worse just to get some photos! Perhaps a hot toddy is called for? Whistling

That's really neat, Tarev - seeing the same view and the development of the richer fall/autumn colours over time. Thumbs up Thumbs up I must try to remember that for next year! It's also a beautifully framed photo, with the fringe of green leaves in the foreground at the top of the pic. What tree(?) is that?

Hi Mika, the foreground trees I think are poplars, it is taking its sweet time to sleep, due to our recent rains.

They are the city trees along our fence line:

Nice - the last trees here to shed their leaves are the oaks. Thumbs up
