Name: Leslieray Hurlburt Sacramento California (Zone 9b)
Couldn't help but wonder if you were on a balloon ride or do you have a drone? Not that many high points along a Texas rivers edge. Sabine, Gaudalupe? It's a wonderful perspective for that local. Great photo all around.

Yes, a nice high cliff. And it's the Guadalupe River in Comal County. I live about three blocks away from this view (although we don't have 'blocks' here in the country). I can't see the river from my house, so I hike the hillsides frequently. And, yes, I'm always extremely careful. Have been doing this for almost 17 years and never tire of it. My grown children think I'm part mountain goat.
It sounds like a wonderful area! We are also very hilly where we are, and I love climbing around, but do have to be extra careful and always keep a phone on me.
I agree with you, Karen, that a cell phone is a good idea. Glad to know you're a kindred spirit when it comes to tromping through the weeds! Your zone line says NM and AZ - I love that part of the country!!! I lived in Yarnell, Az for a while when I was a kid. And the rock formations in New Mexico are beautiful! You're lucky too.
Oh, I loved Yarnell! I grew up in Phoenix, we camped in Prescott every summer, and did lots of traveling all around the area. It's changed a lot now. NM does have great rock formations. We have City of Rocks State Park not far from us.
I was able to visit Yarnell about ten years ago and was amazed at how much it had grown. When I lived there as a 9 year old kid, we had a two-room schoolhouse!!!!! So, yes, lots of changes - but the area is still beautiful in a rugged sort of way. And Prescott is such a neat town, very artsy!
