I agree with Elaine though that Terete Vandas you will receive initially will not have the massive roots that we are used to as the other V. Pachara Delights but my Mom has a few of them and once they are established they can develop massive roots. They love a lot to be in more sun.

Glad to hear it. I am all about "massive roots". Green Grin! Well, massive anything, if you saw what I have in my greenhouse. "Go big or go home" is my motto. And since I need to move it all with the loader tractor.................

Tell me about it, Anna. Not only great weather year 'round but great tropical plant prices year 'round as well.

Ken, how much sun does Emerald Isle like/tolerate? I mounted it on my piece of petrified saguaro root yesterday. I didn't like it in the pot and decided to move it elsewhere. It is the only plant I have that is deserving of that piece of $30+ hunk of "wood". Rolling on the floor laughing

My Emerald Isle gets early morning and/or very late afternoon sun while it is outside, under my oaks. It is now in a greenhouse, along with all my other orchids, and though none of them get any sun now, they get lots of natural bright light, supplemented by T5HO lights from 2:00 PM till 8:00 PM.

I had to shut the fan off to get a picture of this wiggle-meister/ Dendrobium tetragonum just now. This one opened yesterday, but by the time I went to take a picture, the dorsal was already folded down, as it does later in the day.

I came home this afternoon from a very nice holiday with most of my family that rendezvoused in NC , to a couple of newly opened flowers.

It sure is a luscious color - very cherry. I love the graceful flowers on 'Orange Beauty', too.

Nestled in between the leaves, bloomstalk quite short this year, but still glad to see the cheerful bloom of Wilsonara Hilda Plumtree 'Purple Wings'

My sister couldn't attend the extended family Thanksgiving on Saturday because of her own restaurant being open, so I made her this bouquet of my greenhouse pretties. The BOP had 2 blooms that just opened. The Vanda contributed the whole bloom sprig. Too much bright sun where I took the pic, but you get the idea. Also put in a pink and an orange bougainvilla and 3 fern fronds for greenery. The Vanda blooms looked smashing in there! Green Grin! I thought it was selfish for me to have all the blooms........they needed to be shared.

Wow, Anna what a gorgeous bouquet. I've heard that Vanda flowers last very well as cut flowers too.
