Thread OP

Hello!
I've been doing some research on desktop water gardens for a while. Right now I only have a marimo moss ball, but I would like to have a few more water-friendly plant friends sitting on my desk as well. I've got all of these ideas in my head, and I would love to have a water plant garden jar of some sorts that I can put a lid on. (Partly because jars with lids are cute and partly because I don't want certain kitties I live with trying to drink the water or chew on the plants.)
But is that a bad idea? I imagine that putting a lid on a jar of plants may deprive it of what it needs to live - because plants need carbon dioxide to function, and placing a lid on the top of the jar may keep them from getting that. Any opinions, personal experiences, or better research than me?
Thank you so much in advance! I look forward to learning from you all!
