I was thinking about what the Blyths wrote in the email (posted above by Liz) about seeing their irises showing up in the pedigree of new introductions by other hybridizers. I imagine that must be very satisfying, knowing your legacy will be carried on like that.
Made me wonder if any of the non-Blyth irises that I have, does actually have 'Blyth genes' in their pedigree and I realised that my favorite iris does!

A cross between

and
(Ghio 1996)
So that is 3 great hybridizers just going back one generation - and I'm sure there are more, but I haven't looked into it yet, as both Imprimis and Romantic Evening have quite complicated family trees:
Imprimis:
((Inca Queen x (Tranquil Star x (Love Chant x Festive Skirt))) x Amber Snow) X ((Alpine Journey x Beachgirl) x ((Beachgirl x (Tranquil Star x Coral Strand)) x (Persian Smoke x Chimbolam)))
Romantic Evening:
88-14: ((83-73-J2: (Success Story x (Fancy Tales x Alpine Castle)) x ((Persian Smoke x Entourage) x ((Strawberry Sensation x (Artiste x Tupelo Honey)) x Borderline sibling))) x Costa Rica) X 88-215: (Witch's Wand x 86-3, Costa Rica sibling)
(But then, Romantic Evening has 197 registered child plants - so maybe 'complicated' is the way to go??
