Love the faux stained glass items! So pretty! How do you mic the clay to look like glass?

Charleen, love that purse too! You all are so talented!

That is how I started my drapery business Charlene. I made Bible covers for Christmas gifts one year. Then I started making stuffed rabbits, then lampshades , then curtains.

The stained glass look comes from mixing different colors of clay.

I made this yesterday to put out my in shade garden. Just wanted something colorful and different. The "ball" part is 5" diameter, overall width is 11".

Thanks. Yes, I think everyone should get out some clay and play with it! Actually, it's about the only thing I can do while I'm recovering from my back surgery. Whistling

Tamara, hope your baby is doing fine. I remember when we had our boxer spayed....it is sad while they recover. Sad Luckily they seem to bounce back really quick.

Love your clay art creation, Chris! Thanks Sharon for your insight on sewing machines. Before reading your post I went for the Singer... I'm not spending a lot (about $160), and I think this one will have what I need and I hope it works well!

The countertop paint comes from here: http://gianigranite.com/ . I'm getting the Bombay Black. I'm hoping it will get here today or tomorrow so I can work on it over the weekend! My outdoor fabric I have been buying from www.fabricguru.com. You can search by color or keyword. I've been very happy with the fabric I've gotten from them so far.

Hope everyone is having a great day!

Whoa, let's see if I can catch up here!

Chris, just when I'm trying to read fast to post how cool those suncatchers are and then you post something else that is so AWESOME! Thumbs up I'm hoping to play with my clay a little more soon but just going to keep it simple until I get better with the polymer. Whistling

Without scrolling back up (since this laptop is so miserable to work with right now) - whoever is painting their countertops, I've got some tips/advice if you need them. Whistling Painted my formica countertops over two years ago and despite the problems I ran into I'm still happy with them. I bought the same kit and ended up running out of the black primer. Thumbs down The biggest problem I had was applying the sealer - gave me fits because it dried so darned so fast that I had streaks in the finish. I complained to the company and they were great, they were in the process in developing a newer sealer and as soon as it was available they sent me a replacement free. Unfortunately it was about a month after I got the counters done and I had to try several other options before I was able to find a resolution. I just couldn't bring myself to tackling another coat with their new product since I had already been without counters for almost a month. Whistling

It's a little tricky getting the "pattern" right but I kept working at it. The counters used to be green and every time the cat would walk across them he'd leave muddy cat prints. When I finally finished the counter my DH said it just looked like the cat had walked across it but at least they don't show as much! Hilarious!

Thanks Debbie. There are just endless projects to do with polymer clay. It's such a fun medium to work with. With your fantastic artistic skills I bet you'll come up with some great pieces. Thumbs up

Thanks for the insight, Debbie. Today I put down the black base coat (after doing all the prep work... we all know prep is the most important part of painting anything!). It went on so easy and covered so well, I am very pleased! I ordered two kits, because I have about 24 linear feet of countertop, so according to their info I should have needed more than one kit. I haven't even touched the second kit yet, and I have quite a bit of the black base left from the first kit. Great, because I am going to do my bathroom countertop, and paint my hood fan, and I just might use the black on the base of our pool table! I want to do the faux paint tomorrow but I think we are going skiing, so it may have to wait until Monday. I've done lots of faux painting, so I'm not too worried about the pattern. I can see why one reviewer said that the black looked so good that he just left it black... it could be great just plain! I'm glad to hear they changed the gloss finish, Debbie... I'm hoping that goes on well. My biggest challenge is keeping dog hair off of everything! They are all shedding like crazy!
