It's forecast to freeze tonight for the first freeze of the season. Hoping it doesn't get that low...hate to lose any blooms.

It's 36 here now. I thumbed my nose at the weatherman and didn't move my plumerias in yesterday. I'll be doing that today for sure.

Ha! Didn't freeze after all here! I did bring my purslane in...trying to keep it blooming for a little while.

Supposed to get to 32° tonight! Who knows...can we avoid the freeze again?

It's cold here, but not cold here! It's in the low 30s in Austin and surrounds, but in our backyard it was 48 early this morning. Not sure why that is, but I'm grateful since I didn't get all the plumerias put away. Found a few more that were out behind the pond. The brugmansias are putting on a show after battling heat, drought and spider mites all summer.

30.4° earlier. Brrr! Not much place to hide from the cold when you live up on a hill.

NO! Don't say that yet...I've got blooms...and I'm not ready to give them up! I'm moving the brush out of the yard today that I had piled up after pruning the live oak back...and other things, too! Oh, today I saw a late hummingbird. BTW, that looks very good, Sandi, good work!

Thanks Linda. I'm enjoying flowers too. The brugmansias are enjoying the cooler temps and blooming like it's spring. I wanted to save the blooms and buds on one of them when the front blew thru yesterday. I hauled the pot onto the patio. Last night we walked out the door into the greenhouse and the fragrance was just wonderful. I can't leave it on the patio tho. I'm afraid it'll have spider mites and then all my plants might get them.
No hummers here. No birds either. We had to turn off our fountain because of the water restrictions. The stone is so porous, even tho I fill the top bowls of the fountain with the hose, it doesn't last very long.

The freeze last night wasn't so bad, only 31.1° here. Refrigerator weather during the day. Tonight it'll get worse, however, 27° is what the forecast says.

Yes, I've been out most of the day moving pots. I usually don't really mind the cold, but today has been the exception. I keep coming in to get warm. Don't want DH out, because he usually gets sick for Xmas. I thought I was all done, but I keep finding more plants I had forgotten about.

In the 20s this morning. Everything on the patio that's covered by hoop is fine. We left a small electric heater on. The big hoop house has two heaters in it. Haven't been out to check on it yet. Frost on the cars. I guess it really is winter now!

25.7° sometime early in a.m. Brr! Put the hummer feeder back out as soon as I dared. Leather coat weather, so soon!

Walked out to get the paper yesterday morning and the fog was so thick I couldn't see down our street. It lasted until around 10:30. Seemed early in the season for the fog to start. Today it's just dreary and cold with a good chance for rain. The leaves on the trees have finally turned red and gold! Guess the freeze the other day nudged them along. Fall color came in December.
We still haven't done any decorating outside. Maybe it'll be warmer tomorrow.
Stay warm!

We've been having drizzle (and sometimes rain) for quite a while today. I'm doubting that warmer part...but less likely to rain or drizzle tomorrow..

Yeah, cloudy, cold, but no rain. We had 1/2 inch by this morning. Hurray! I remember winters like this, with the drizzle here and there, maybe a little rain.

We just left to run a few errands. Got as far as the mall, and could see the black clouds rolling behind us. Bought one gift and decided we'd rather be home. It's the perfect calm before the storm. Not a leaf moving. More rain on the way, then colder. I'm trying to put up Christmas garland on the courtyard wall before it starts raining. Came in to check messages.
