This lovely red salvia is very attractive to hummingbirds. Not hardy in my zone over the winter so I have to buy new plants if I want them each spring.

Rita,

Plant it in your garden and let it self sow, it does for me! I'm zone 6 and I get new plants in the areas the following year where the plants were growing. I just submitted a photo of plants that are all volunteers! May take a couple of days before it shows up. I have two areas that I have 'Lady in Red' growing in the ground that are volunteers and I always let them self sow.

Try it! You'll be so happy! Thumbs up

I am not sure what prompted this comment as I haven't grown Lady In Red in my garden in years. And yes, it did die out over each winter. I don't know if it even would self sow but the only plants that are successes for self sowing are really quick growing (and very easy) annuals. Even if it did self sow, it would be far too late in the year by the time it started flowering.
