Since I live in Zone 7b/8a, should I wait a little longer or should I go ahead and put them in now? I don't think we'll have any more super hot days (85°+).

I would do it now. That will give them a good 6 weeks or so to build up a good root system and be ready for next Spring. Thumbs up
