I'll have to look for that one! I used to have my Plumerias in my greenhouse in NM, but they grew too large, and took up too much space, so now they are in a partially shaded area of our Arizona place. They are on a drip system, and I'm hoping they will leaf out soon and bloom well this summer.

Wow! Those blooms are so beautiful, I can barely wait to see my little "sticks" begin to grow leaves and blossoms.

On average, how long should one wait to plant a young "tree" plant in the ground? Move it from a pot to the ground?

You can technically put it in the ground at any time, just be prepared to worry and take alternative measures to keeping them from freezing some years. Even in a 9b zone, you will have to protect it at times, or it will get damaged in winter. If you want them in the ground, then I would just wait until they have good solid root balls.

You're in a better place for them, but I put mine in the ground in Phoenix, Arizona. I gave them a bit of shade and babied them along. They did well for about 5 years and then a big freeze hit when we weren't at home to cover them and they all had freeze damage and had to be drastically cut back, but I still have them. They are beautiful when they are leafed out and blooming.

I would plant it in the ground right now. They do so much better and I would think the danger of frost in your area is past.

A few rooted cuttings (55) and seedlings (12). They range in height from 12" up to 32". Many are multi-tipped and some have a flower stem(s) growing. The cuttings were all taken in the fall, just before bringing everything inside. They were rooted during the fall and winter months. I have nothing in bloom though.

You will have a lot of blooms in the coming months, Ken. Those all look really happy and healthy. Nice work!

I see part of your walk in crop cage there. I wanted to buy one and do that, but my husband looked at the ones available online and said they wouldn't hold up to our winds. we pretty constantly have 20 to 30mph on our hilltop site. Has yours withstood any high winds?

How about 90 mph? I made that so-called "cage" myself. I simply used those 6' tall landscape stakes (they are also used to run fencing) and heavy-duty plastic netting. I used narrow mesh netting on the bottom 2' (so that rabbits and other small critters couldn't chew through it) and more open mesh for the upper 3'. I really don't think any wind could take this stuff down. Everything is found at Lowe's and Home Depot.

Perhaps I should patent this? Whistling
