This popped up as a random idea today... I am totally Team Plants. I made a note in my garden journal this past spring to QUIT fighting myself. I don't do seeds. I try to do seeds and always fail. Even when I get some seedlings going, the grocery store will invariably have a 4" pot all ready to go while mine are still in eggshells (or whatever other strange process I'm trying). I don't have, or want, a greenhouse. I like the instant gratification of plugging a plant in the ground, giving it some water, then sitting back and admiring it. I love to trade starts with folks, but only locally, not through the mail. I also do a lot of dividing what I already have for my own expansion, and/or seeing what I can find out in my back woods. My plant budget will severely be cut back once I retire (in one month, yay) so I'll be snooping around the neighbors' yards more.
The only seeding I do is to gather seeds from plants that will likely self-sow (poppies, Echinacea, rudbeckia) and toss them down my hillside. My failure rate is high there as well, but at least I have no money and little time invested.
It's all good.
