I think possibly just the wrong photo. Now I do have other red crosses too and wonder if that's a 'chocolate' something's pic Confused but yes, yours Tom is the correct pic.

I take it these are seeds from a hybridizer that you have attained?

Gabe, do you have specific goals in mind that you're hoping to achieve?

Tom, yes. I was offered around 80 crosses, but only chose 32. I didn't realize a pod can pack so many seeds either. I could of expressed some out more in one year, but planted no more than 25 seeds per packet this year. I just wanted a preview of all the first go around. I have some crosses of my own and from Cory too that are growing too.

Neal, I thought I did, but need to learn more and see more of what else is out there. What may be unusual or new to me can be something of the norm to an knowledgeable or wiser iris eye.

Originally I had color goals. I want a golden iris that glitters in the light. Then pattern goals, wether haft marks or veining. Then form goals came about. How to have that signature looks overall...but nothing too specific. Whistling Seriously might take 10 or more years to break away from the "competition" and offer something truly different.

Do you have the book: the World of Irises ? It has chapters on color inheritance, which could help you.

I do have it now and have read some on color inheritance. Good thing I also payed attention in HS and college biology and genetics. Alot of this stuff makes sense.

There's that 1211-A again. Lovey dubby I love that one just the way it is.

Thanks for posting what Ready For My Closeup looks like in your garden Tom. I wonder what it would look like crossed with 1211-A.

I agree with Rob - want 1211A in it's own right!
