I'm thoroughly convinced now, all the good lilies are in the hybridizers gardens Lovey dubby

It seems like Fred has some others over the years that have been introduced with nectary flare trait. I agree that the lightness of that first flare seedling you posted Jim, is really set off by that dark background. The Fifth seedling you posted on that last round is a bit reminiscent of 'Pink Cream' that was once offered by Buggy Crazy, I believe from her breeding. Beautiful and a favorite of mine.

The pictures here have been quite the sight for sore eyes here. The lilies you have posted are wonderful. And we are really fortunate you stopped in (we hope you stay around too) to show us. Congratulations on your hybridizing efforts.

Yes I had a few flares come out of the Asiatic breeding I did, but none as good as these! I really like all of them but the first one is very nice! I did not do much with the asiatics - orientals were my true love. Here is pink cream, one of my babies I actually got back from one of my wonderful lily friends.

BuggyCrazy,
Nice pastel with the red flare and yes this trait is out there, I just thought I would see how far I could take it. Thanks for the look at this photo.

Thanks to all for their comments as well regarding this thread.

Looking through some of my older photos, I found the seed parent of the dark white flared seedling I initially posted. It is a seedling as well - never registered. I may use it some more to lengthen the white flare. It would be great to get this white flare on a dark background again, but to get it til it is almost to the end of the tepal/petal as it is on this seedling. Who said hybridizing wasn't fun!

I just notice that the seed parent seedling has white filaments where as its darker seedling has red filaments which kind of changes the look of the flower.

Amazing! Jim, I like the seed parent even better than the darker seedling.

I agree and speaking of green! What a nice seedling all around. Is it b orientation? That's what it looks like in the picture. Sidefacing, another winning characteristic in my book too.

Yes, I would say it is a mostly an outfacing (1b) lily.

Tracey, if you like outfacing lilies this seedling is one of my favourite 1b seedlings. I call it 'Close Encounters' obviously because the flowers are so close to each other on the stem (looks great with blue delphiniums or an early monkshood). It does have secondary buds too so it blooms for quite a while. A mature stem is close to 5 feet.
