Keep your tools organized. There is nothing more frustrating than spending precious gardening time looking for your tools.

Organized? I am organized. I know exactly where my tools are:
shovels are in the (crappy, don't buy one) Rubbermaid shed, except for the one my daughter borrowed;
leaf rakes are in a tangle in the same (crappy) shed;
garden/dirt rakes are well behaved and leaning next to the shed because I forgot (again) to put them away;
bow saw, yep, same daughter has that too;
crosscut saw is in the living room on top of the television (I don't know how that happened);
lopping shears with extendable handles (I love those things) are near the front door for emergency lopping when the mood strikes, mostly on Tuesday morning as that is our 'Yard Waste Pickup Day';
adz is in the car trunk for 'finding' plants while I am out driving around;
machete is at my neighbor Amariliz's house because her husband needs to cut down an entire tree with it and he doesn't use power tools;
every one of my pruning shears is exactly where they belong on the shelf next to the front door...well, except for the yellow handled pair which was forgotten last Autumn and is all rusty;
(don't even know where the WD-40 is);
small hand trowels....one is in the tomato bed, one is near the potting area which is an old kitchen sink up on two aquarium stands, and one is...wait don't tell me, I know it's here somewhere.
See, I told you I have very well organized tools!!

I love it!

>> See, I told you I have very well organized tools!!

I have the same system for everything: garden and house alike.

"Where is it?"
"Where I last used it! That way, it's already where it needs to be for NEXT time I use it!"

Except for company comes to visit and I have to "tidy up". Then it takes hours to find ANYthing, including the time spent cursing.

Once I lived in a small apartment for many years, and "stuff" piled up on the folding card table where I ate meals and did most non-computer things (The computer got the sturdy table).

At one point, I needed a napkin, and I KNEW where that stack of extra napkins was ... right about THERE in the pile on top of the card table. So I stuck my hand into the pile about 2" deep[er than my wrist and felt around until my fingertips found the napkins. I pulled them out. They were a Christmas pattern from McDonald's - nine months ago.

Everyone needs to have a system so they can find things!

No, it's a GIFT! To know where things are without putting them away? It's a Zen mastery or mystical Siddha power.

Like "the arrow that is not aimed". We have "the system that is not a system".

And don't ever let anybody tell you that you're a hoarder!
(Just in case we share another Cosmic Super Power.)

Oh dear! Someone else must have lost their twine, and now they'll never know to look behind the beer cooler!
