Actually, I would also like to do it a little earlier. I try to thread the gaps between other swaps here and elsewhere.

How does everyone feel about December 2-9 for active swapping with a late December return?

He can be well behaved....sometimes...lol. The day the seeds came, him and his sister were freaking out trying to get into the envelope the seeds came in. He must have just gotten up from a nap when I took this picture Smiling

I would pass on the Dec 2-9, I'm in Christmas already...I would do earlier....mid to late November.

That's a challenge. Late enough to have things harvested and ready to package, early enough to satisfy wintersowers, all fit into a time from that gives me a few days off during the packing, shipping part of the swap, while dodging the holidays.
Anyone else have a preference?

Doesn't everyone have all their seed collected by November 1st?

One more option. We could probably do the swap November 11 through 18, but the turn around would not be as fast if life is "normal" for me this fall. We could allow a few more days for mailing and a few more days for the return, putting the return in mid-December.

I received my seeds last week at school. This is my first seed swap and I am absolutely overwhelmed by the generosity of the people involved in this swap Smiling my students and I had a blast sorting through our seeds and putting them into a pile for vegetables and a pile for flowers. We are so excited to get something growing and started winter sowing some of our hardy vegetable seeds. We will have more than enough seeds to plant our raised garden beds at school and fill our flower beds. As we start to prepare for our second year of growing in our Garden of Hope, we are so thankful for the blessings you all have provided! Smiling Thank You!

I would prefer an earlier seed swap schedule myself, but whenever you folks decide will be fine with me. I would be a little concerned about the holiday chaos for some folks, as well as, the stressed USPS service the month of December, though.

The November 11 swap works for me. I don't have a preference when I get mine back. I don't start anything until Jan/Feb anyway. I can work with the November 25 if I had too if that works better for you Alana.

Perhaps an earlier date would spur me to work more efficiently. Though I've usually captured most of the seeds I want by November 1, I seldom (OK, never) have them all cleaned by then. Chaos ruled 2016, and there are still several big roaster pans and two molasses lick tubs of seed heads, waiting to be cleaned Sad

I know there was another swap on here in November, and several people on this one were also on that. So you might also want to take that into consideration. Maybe make sure that one is done and people have time to organize from it before the second swap starts.

Alana,

I clean my seeds the day I harvest them. NO, I'm not that good. I just collect a little of each type so it's easy to clean them right away. They go on paper plates on the spare room bed to dry for a couple of weeks and into envies they go. I can be ready whenever you decide to post the swap.

I'm going to TRY to do two things this year. The first is to collect more of each variety, I think I could have given several others seeds that I just let drop. The second is to collect from all my plants. I tend to collect only seeds of plants that I think might be wanted. I saw some that I don't collect on wish lists. I'll try to be better at collecting next year Smiling

The system can actually handle simultaneous swaps, so don't let other swaps sway you from deciding your dates. I see no problem at all with having swaps overlap in time.

Yes this! I like the earlier date and I won't need them until January/February either so turnaround time doesn't matter to me.

I love the idea of another swap, next year I'll have more to contribute Smiling

I'm happy with earlier, too, agree with Michelle: I'll be more motivated to get out and do garden cleanup earlier than usual, get more seeds before they fall, etc. And since it's around the time everyone will probably be collecting seeds, seeing people's wish lists as we're popping in and out of the garden... we could make more "magic" happen for each other lol.

I'd like an earlier swap as well. We don't have too many days that get to freezing temps and I'd like to have some of my seeds out in Dec.
I can go with whatever works for you though. You did a great job hosting this one.
