Yesterday I upgraded to Firefox 8.0.
As much as I love Firefox, I hate version 8.0...it's slow beyond reason and freezes every half hour at least.

I tried a system restore to a couple of days a ago...but it's STILL there!!

How else can I go back to an older version of Firefox?

I really don't recall. I left the 3.x branch quite a while ago - maybe a year?

Is there someplace a person can check for reviews of updates before they download them?

None that I know of, sorry. I'm glad you were able to downgrade successfully.

I downloaded 8 yesterday and it seems to have improved the speed . No problems so far. There are a couple of reviews which mostly say it's an improvement on 6 and 7 . Google Firefox 8 reviews. There was also a comparison of the 5 most popular browsers.

I'm using FF 8 also and don't really notice any difference.

Looks like I'm using FF 8.0 and it works fine.

I don't know anything about computers, but I think sometimes upgrades aren't quite compatible with some other program you might have- an antivirus program or a firewalll, or something of the sort. Not long ago I was using a version that was extremely slow on some sites. We got rid of an antivirus program (AVG I think?) and then it worked fine. Sometimes it seems to be process of elimination.

Ever since I downgraded I've been getting this error message:

plug-incontainer.exe has encountered a problem...and my 'puter freezes. After a bit of googling, I've disabled all of the java plug-ins (about the only thing I could understand LOL) but it hasn't worked. Any ideas?

urg...thanks Shoe. Still doesn't make any sense...I need a simple 2 click fix!!

I have FF 8 as of this morning and everything is fine for me. At one point FF suggested that I disable 2 McAfee addons which I did.

Lee Anne, what OS do you have? Vista? Windows 7? & so forth. Then google Firefox 8 (or whatever version) followed by the name of your OS + the word "problems". See what you come up with. Then do the same with your antivirus in the search text.

What version did you go back to , you may have gone to one that is to old to support your programs.

I went back to version 3.6
I'm using Windows XP

It only gives me trouble when I'm checking my Yahoo e-mail...so I just haven't been checking it.
