My eyes popped when I saw this beautiful Iris, Favorite Son!!!!
It is - drop dead gorgeous - with its dusky Raspberry colouring and zippy violet-mauve beard.
I find it very hard to believe that this was born and bred in 1938! - Couldn't find any other image out there in the Google world.
Does anyone know where I can get it in Canada??
Thanks. HemNorth
JoAnn, I was just about to send you a message asking you about that gorgeous iris. I had the same thought as Nora when I looked it up in the database, the bloom form looks very modern compared to others introduced in the 30s and 40s. Come to think of it, I don't believe reds were developed this far along at that time.
Does MidAmerica sell historics? I don't recall seeing them offer any?

All I know is I ordered it from MidAmerica about 3 or 4 years ago.
They no longer carry it .I don't know about the historics.
Here is another image of it.
Ah, now it all makes sense! JoAnn, thanks so much for looking into it I had a feeling a word in the name was off or something like that.
Schreiner's photos are often way off. And MidAmerica does typically offer some Schreiner introductions, so they may have carried Fortunate Son at some point.

Neal, Honestly I had forgotten .
I ordered a bunch of friendly colors for a new iris area and thought I placed the order with one company. It was 2013 they were planted.
Since it's winter and 22* I have time to go back to old files.
I will add some new landscape images today.
