Frenchy21, thank you--you are a good driver. Maybe that is best, rather than going on my own. Also keep me from getting too many things.----Have to figure out what to cook that I can be on time---

I am thrilled at the number expressing interest.

John, would LOVE to see you here. If I remember correctly you visited a relative nearby. Maybe that is a possibility again or you could stay here.
Big hugs being sent your way as you continue to grieve sweet Ruby's passing.

Jan, you half-jokingly mentioned backyard camping... If serious, I have a tent whose description says sleeps 8, but not sure how (like sardines?). However, it'll easily sleep 4 to 6... We took it car camping and had a queen air matress and a twin -- and I think 2 queen airbeds would fit, barely, with room for a kid or two besides. Hmm.

It would be funny in a way, if everyone snore--like I do I think, it would be like an orchestra, no one would be able to sleep! When I went to Indonesia, I would not sleep with my parents, because both of them snored so hard, I could not sleep! even after 30 hours flying-and yet the sound of frogs lulled me to sleep in my grandmother's house----isn't that funny????

Well, Joyanna tells me I snore, more some nights than others (when camping, she found that if she poked me I'd roll over, and that would improve the situation). Not sure how Jan's neighbors would feel about a backyard full of snoring tents... Maybe I should look for a Motel 6! (It just seems more relaxing to make it a weekend and drive back the next day, although I haven't run that plan by my co-pilot yet.)

I was serious, critter. We have a couple tents also. Plan on it if you would like.
We can have a campfire, even.
I snore also. We could have an orchestra.

Gita, (Robin, Judy) I'm not sure how Mark and I will 'play' this. I'll have to let you know, closer to time. Might be nice to stay over, or stay for campfire time, or spend the night somewhere up there for a mini excursion...
We don't mind leading a caravan if that helps.
Plant it and they will come.

Sally, I will be driving my car. I know I have to work on Sunday at the Museum. I drove to the previous swap at Jan's house, I think I took the eastern shore route. I avoid major highways as much as possible when I go anywhere.

Just to be sure, depending on Frenchy21, I should look for my sleeping bag. I also know I have an air mattress somewhere, bought for a friend for when she comes, but have never used. -- do you need for me to bring a chair Jan? I have folding chairs-
I also have bought a pot for cooking broth that I can use for deep frying chicken/s--- (tall and narrow pot with an insert, so easier to get the raw chicken in and lift it out--have never tried it out though)--this can also be used to cook the rice cakes to eat with the satay, but rice cakes can be cooked in my house, it is ok to eat cold.--the first time I cooked rice cakes, I put too many packets and the rice of course expanded and it was very hard to get all the packets of rice cakes out of the pot, worse than sardines in its cans--quite funny-in this pot I can just lift out the insert and dump them into a big bowl, hopefulle they all come out. All theory but never done before.
Have also an electric bbq grill (not big), for satay-I have used it and it is nice, so satay is always piping hot, the only way it should be consumed.

We probably have about 8 outdoor chairs. Will set up tables and folding chairs making it easier to eat.
Many times people bring lawn chairs if they have room in their vehicle.

There is a good amount of shade I think. We can always move with the shade, too. Some portable shade might be nice in case of inclement weather. Bite my tongue!!! Won't even think along those lines.

Here are the two threads set up for the Mid-Atlantic Gardeners 2017 Spring Plant Swap being held at Jan's place in Pennsville, NJ.

The first thread is to let us know who is attending and what food or beverage item they are bringing for the pot luck lunch.
2017 Spring Plant Swap

The second thread is for general chat about the swap. This thread also contains information on how the swap will be conducted.

If you have any questions, please feel free to post them to the chat thread.

If you've never been to an in-person swap, don't be shy! After all, where else can you go and hang out with a bunch of people talking about plants with enthusiasm?

Life is "mind over matter". If I d
Sally/Robin----
I won't be able to stay over too late--as i also work on Sundays. Need to get home around 8PM

I am NOT a camper by any means--so that "fun" part is out. Love bonfires though...

Robin--if you do not like to drive on major Highways--I do not have a problem driving on those.
Could we then drive together--instead of me meeting up at Sallys?
Let me know of a convenient meeting place. I do not knowwhere a convenient meeting up place would be. You are already a bit South.
IF you found the "Eastern Route" better--fine! It has been ages I have driven that route!

We will have to figure out where we could best meet up. There is plenty of time...
I will T-mail you my address and phone number and e-mail....right now...
Keep in touch. I only have a voice-mail on my house phone. I do check it regularly.

Depending on how many ride with me, we may have room for the 6 sturdy but awful looking folding chairs I picked up last summer (for just such occasions!). I'll bring at least 1 table, as well.

More and more of us are experiencing warm spells that are allowing us to get out and play in the dirt (YAAAAY!). As such, we're starting to sort things out as to what we want to offer.

By opening registration early, people can start building their plant lists in the swap tool and use it as a way of keeping track of their planned offerings. It will also allow us to start figuring out what we may be looking for.

Because of the really screwy weather we're having this year, I am going to open the registration for Jan's May swap on February 21.

I realize that this gives us 2 months before trading actually begins, but I think it will help people stay organized.

Also, for those that are unfamiliar with the swap tool, it will give them plenty of time to play around, ask questions, etc.

Date Reminders:
- Registration NOW OPEN at https://garden.org/apps/swap/view/10/
- Trading Begins Tuesday, April 18, 2017
- Trading Ends Wednesday, May 3, 2017
- In-Person Swap Saturday, May 6, 2017

This swap is being hosted by Jan and Jeff in Pennsville, New Jersey. Directions will be posted the week of the swap.

Sounds good! We'll have plenty of time to chat about what we're finding "out there," and we can build our wish list as well as our offer list as we go along. Smiling
