My crazy friend sent a pic of goat coats she knitted for her neighbors' goats, after I sent her one of calf coats I had posted on the TX forum. She called them "Coats for Goats." But she outdid herself with my new gardening hat. The neighbors already think I'm a little nutty about my garden. This probably seals the deal! I'm probably going to need wine before I I venture outside again.

Cute hat!

I'm curious how much work is involved in putting coats on calves and goats. Perhaps you have a possible opportunity helping a Kindergarten teacher get her little ones ready to go home on cold afternoons?
If you share wine with the neighbors and maybe they will want a hat of their own! (If so make sure you get free weeding in exchange!) Either way, it's a great gift from a good friend so wear it with pride!

https://garden.org/thread/view... This started the discussion about covering calfs in the cold. Consensus was ...not a good idea

https://garden.org/thread/view... And after seeing the coats, my friend decided to knit sweaters for her neighbors' baby goats in Arizona. Which turned out to be a great idea, as they were keeping them in the house, in diapers.

Which eventually led to her deciding to knit me an appropriate ski cap that could double as a garden hat or disguise.

What a great hat. Looking at those Goat coats has me thinking about my poor Sulcata tortoise. We had a 24 hour power out yesterday and I know he's cold out in his house, he doesn't hibernate as he's an African tortoise, maybe I should be knitting him a sweater for power outs.
