One thought about temperatures. Here in Texas I think the hardest thing for plants is that in addition to high temps during the day is the fact that it really doesn't cool off at night to give the plants a chance to rest. In the middle of summer it will be 85 at 10 pm.i know that these temps are hard on people for sure.

I always thought my roses lost leaves in the hottest months because of lack of water.

I couldn't say what plants think about it, but I have a good idea what people without air conditioning do. On second thought, in polite company I probably can't.

Plants breath through their leaves.

At high temps there is significant moisture loss through the leaves through transpiration. You can have sufficient moisture in the root zone, but if the plant cannot bring that moisture up to the top growth the plant will droop or look like it is wilting. Often you will see this in young plants or in plants that only have a lot of old wood. However, if you have a healthy, mature plant, it can move the moisture up to the top growth.

The rose will abandon growth it cannot support, but it doesn't just stop growing.

Yes, it does cool off at night in my mountain garden, but roses grow well in desert gardens where it doesn't cool off. Not all roses. You have to choose roses that can handle the heat.
I'd rather weed than dust ... the weeds stay gone longer.

Wow this rose sounds great. I wonder if anyone has tried to breed it with Crepuscule?

Apricot Candy, mentioned in the original post, is available in bags (bare root body bags) at Home Depot this year. I bought a couple, and they had nice roots.
Steve, did the Actinovate work for you? What about the Green Cure? I need a good antifungal because my garden will be on a tour or two this year. Normally I don't spray because roses are spaced well enough and we have enough wind and sparse enough rainfall to prevent most fungus from growing. (How do I tag Steve? I need some basic computer lessons) Blinking
