Becky: Thanks for the great article and showing everyone how much fun it is to root cuttings in colorful glass containers! I stick cuttings in any available container that will hold water but I really do love colorful glass.

I'm slowly getting moved and settled into my new home and just this morning I went out and took a couple of cuttings and put them in colored glass jars and sat them in the kitchen windowsill. It brings a bit of cheerfulness, helping me through all the boxes and bins etc. and stuff that needs sorting and unpacking. Every time I walk into the kitchen I smile. I found my camera and took a picture but can't find the cable to attach it to the laptop for downloading .... eventually it will show up!

And you are 100% right . . . color adds cheerfulness that a jelly jar doesn't. I love looking at my colorful rooting vases/jars/bottles in the window!

Sometime in December I will be teaching a tutorial on how to make a colorful bottle similar to the first image. I'll post a link here once I am able to do this!

Becky: I look forward to your tutorial! I bought that little yellow glass jar at a local outlet store but I remember someone (can't remember which website, maybe cubits?) told about bending thin wire around narrow necked jars and adding beads etc. for decoration and then using them for rooting jars.

GREAT idea Lynn! That is what I do with my recycled light bulbs! I never thought about doing it for narrow necked jars etc.

why can't you hang your bottles from wires or string??? Use the space you got. Do you only have one window???

Hanging them from wires in front of the window reminds me of the scene in Pollyanna where she hangs all the chandelier crystals in front of the window in Agnes Moorehead's BR.

Charleen I have bottles in every window and some are on wires. My plan (as soon as I get some disposable income) is to have a carpenter construct glass shelves inside one window and on the outside of two others. I'm presently living in an apartment home as I go to school. Only 4 windows! My old house had gobs of them ...but I also had to clean them!
