I always start with lisianthus also.....normally I do these on January 1, but I'm already behind this year *Blush*

I managed to get rosemary going from cuttings, so don't have to deal with that this year. Also time to get my wintersowing jugs started. Never enough time in a day to get everything done. Shrug!

Joanne,

You prompted me top look at my planning calendar. If my last frust date really is April 6, I should laready be starting Salvia & Petunia & Viola indoors.

The "start N weeks before last frost" info in it was scrounged from seed pkts, websites and old gardening books. Not really tested yet, because I usally start things late through procrastination, busyness due to business, and sloth.

I have a calendar in my seed starting room that I mark in big letter the week number counting back from the average last frost. We are currently at week 20 Hilarious!

I use a spreadsheet---problem is I haven't had time to even look at it yet. Hoping to get caught up this weekend.

I think your big calendar where it is out in the open would probably work better for me, Joanne

thanks everone. my two knee replacements went extremely well. i had not one ounce of pain and i was back to work after 5 weeks. i'm retired now. deb is another story. she is in so much pain even a month after the surgery. her surgeon, (the same as mine) said she had major surgery and she shoudl expect some pain. he said the replacement looks great and not to worry.

the last time i was in ny a friend of mine gave me a 2 ft light fixture with a grow light bulb in it so i have that as a starter. i can't seem to find anywhere to buy 2 ft portable shop lights. anyone have any ideas. . thanks

i am growing for the first tme "Trinidad Scorpion Butch T" i just love hot peppers.

I know what you're looking for Frank. I was unable to find one too, when I looked several years ago. Shop lights tend to be standard 4' lengths. You can find options @ hydroponic stores, mostly more expensive T5's.

And the ones in Teri's link, with shipping, are pretty pricey too by the time you pay shipping.

Another cheap option which works, is inexpensive under-cabinet strip lighting (t5) from places like Home Depot. They don't look as bright to my eyes but the plants don't seem to notice.

Frank, Cubits and ATP are sister sites, but they're two distinct websites. Just bookmark ATP separately.

Hi, Frank:
j
Glad you found us here. I've ordered 2 or 3 times from http://www.plantlightinghydrop... in Ohio. They have great prices, quick shipping. Been very satisfied with my purchases from them. They have the regular fluorescent as well as the T5 bulbs.

Hope you can find what you're looking for.

Hi Frank! Nice to see you back!
Dave has added a new feature to this site that you might find useful, since you are only growing veggies. Check this out:

I started a whole disposable roasting pan (half pan) filled with delosperma cooperi seeds a few days ago. Sowed lots of other stuff too, but the ice plant is sprouting ALREADY. Winter isn't so drab when I see the little seedlings starting.

It's the same type Ice Plant as all the others. This one is of the pink ones. I have the ice plant elsewhere in yellow also. I use them in the rock gardens.
