Hi everyone-

Cinda suggested that we propose a Cottage Gardening microbadge to Dave. We had asked for one for the herbs forum and he was quite accommodating, so we thought we'd push our luck Big Grin

Actually, instead of making him come up with something, with Cinda's help I put something together. We wanted you all to have a chance to yay or nay it before we went to Dave.

I'm going to post it on the next entry. When you see it at first it will be blown up in size. Click on it and it will reduce to the actual size and not be as blurry. I'm not going to tell you what it is - I want to see if it's clear to you. If it isn't, we'll need to change it.
In the end, only kindness matters.

Science is not the answer, it is the question.

Okay, here it is! Don't forget to click on it.

LOL- okay, you can tell what it is from the large picture. But tell me if it's clear from the small one!

Not as clear as I would like. Can see it is cottagey, but can't tell the flowers.

They're not defined flowers at all, I kind of doubt that you would be able to see them at that size, anyway. I could certainly change the colors around to represent particular flowers...

I'd suggest a real photo (they used one for the Hosta and Sempervivum badges)
something like this

Thumb of 2011-11-18/sandnsea2/147ba8

I'll give more photo ideas later, but need to go out now.
something cottagey/romantic/overflowing with flowers.

If you look at the tiny microbadges, they seem to focus on one small element that's representative of the plant or type of gardening. Not sure how either of the suggestions above will translate to a small badge.

That is absolutely the biggest problem. For instance, with no manipulation, here's your photo, Janice (remember you need to click on it to get the actual size.

How did they do it for the badge for Hostas and semps?

If we had something with as little detail as either of those pics, we'd be fine. I could probably adapt a picture to be a line drawing of a cottage, but trying to get plants in it makes it tough.

I believe they gave Dave the photo they wanted to use and he manipulated it into the badge.

Ok, Tee that is a better way to go, letting Dave size it, ....drawing one doesn't work for me, anyways.... can't capture properly.

lushness of romantic heirloom flowers capture what Cottage gardens are, in my mind, Tee.

Ummmm..... I'm not sure how you're going to get that across in those size parameters.... unless you do a picture of a particular plant or a mixed bouquet.

Maybe a bunch of peonies? Roses have their own forum, so that would be confusing.

Yes, an arbor with roses/clems, but a photo of one is best...those other badges don't seem to do justice to the subject, IMHO.
