Thanks, I have fun. I've always tried different crafts, mostly beginning with macrame in the early 70's. I did a lot of collage, too.During the 80's I did needlepoint and cross stitch. I still make shell candles sometimes to use up my stash of seashells. Here are a few candles. They have a votive candle glass set in the top so I can use tea lights inside without harming the candle. I found all of the shells here when we lived in the Marshall Islands.

Karen love your windchimes and your displays of seashells.

I have a variety of crafting supplies and some kits that I just need to start sometime. My sister, my DIL and I use to go to painting classes. I did paint a flower design on our mail box when we had to replace one that the snowplow wrecked. Have done some counted cross stitch. Made a face planter from a kit it turned out fairly nice. I have a mosaic bird bath kit that needs doing will see if I can get my DH to help me with it, will give us both a project. Have made beaded ornaments including about a dozen bells.

I am always so busy I rarely have time for crafts winter, sumer or otherwise. And like many, I get bored with the giant projects. Poor DD2 is 24 and I have yet to finish her cross stitch baby blanket!

But after mom died in October, I was motivated to use up some of her old wool yard to make felted dryer balls that replaces dryer sheets. She was an avid needlework-er. I never had the patience to complete any project. But I took little balls of yarn everywhere I went whenever there was sitting time. I made 5 sets for my girls, my sister, my cousin and my dad. I will make some of my own later. I was disappointed that some of the scrap yarns weren't actually wool in the end. Even though they are pretty, they won't hold up as long as the wool ones. I might take them apart, if I can.

Wow to everyone! Those are beautiful things. I do adult coloring, and last week bought Dot-to-Dot books by David Woodroffe. But I need a magnifier to see the dots and numbers. I have so far finished 4 pictures, calming down about the warranty people 'helping' me to fix my kaput refrigerator--still not fixed. I am also learning water colors, and colored pencil drawings, some are water soluble colors. They are so much fun. So far have just finish this Winter 3 pictures, 2 are the same, only 1 is bigger than the other. Copied from photographs. ----
I still have a lot of cross stitch patterns, also have to use my magnifying glass.
Those needlefelt animals are so beautiful, never learned that either. I have still plans to do the cathedral windows, but I have only bought the fabric, started a few, never done much.

Gita: a belated Happy Birthday! I am only 1 year behind you, and I am still buying books and other stuff----
It is so dangerous for me to go into a book store, a hobby store, and most of all Amazon----

One thing I have not done but is simple is decoupage.

I have clear glass plates and wanted to use chrustmas papers and make decorative plates for santas snack for the kids ..peersoalized .
So quick..so easy... and inexpensive. Can even do a birthday cake plate.

If I DO NOT HURRY...THEY WILL BE TOO GROWN!

I too must use a magnifier at times. I just got new glasses so I am doing much better. Now to pay for the glasses. I have one eye and need special lens and it gets pricey. I think they took advantage of me this time. I had to pay for two lens instead of one. I am fighting it.

Trying to keep sane during this crazy weather. Dreaming of the ocean and the sea turtles.
The is my Seaside Horseshoe I made from things I have gathered at the shores. (Not the turtles)
I am going to put this on my deck as a welcome sign.

How nice. please tell me how they work? Do you put a fragrance/oil on them or just as they are. Do they do the same thing a dryer sheet would do?Do you wet them when you put them in? How big are they? I love to felt and I may be able to use up my wool doing that. Plus the old yarn ....great idea. I can't wait to hear about how to make them. Thanks in advance.

I made pumpkins one halloween and balls would be easy.

Love that seaside horseshoe!
Puts me past the winter blues

My felted dryer balls ( store bought ) just bounce around pounding on the quilt or pillows or whatever in the dryer fluffing it up. No odor

Just found this thread and what a bunch of creative people we have here. My grandmother often used the phrase "Idle hands are the devil's workshop" so I was taught at an early age to knit, crochet and embroider. Later I learned tatting and of course sewing. My mother was a gifted seamstress but none of it seemed to rub off on me. I can sew, but it isn't my favorite. I was spoiled by mother's gifted hands and didn't realize how lucky I was until I had to buy "store bought" clothes! I like to cook and bake, however, after over 60 years of it, I am not so anxious to tackle complicated recipes any more.

Several years ago I saw a shell Christmas tree and thought I might purchase it until I saw the price tag, and almost fainted. I decided I had a lot of shells just lying around so I made one myself. Same with the Christmas "presents."

Because we have a large family, I make all the birthday, anniversary, first communion, confirmation, etc. cards. Both DH and I are avid photographers and with years of photos, I can always find a suitable one, however, I cheat on most of the verses and plagiarize (don't tell anyone).
This year I have been really into my latest hobby which my DIL introduced me to at age 79, which is beading. I will have to confess that the first time she took me to her beading society I was absolutely frightened almost to copping out and not going. I couldn't even see to thread a needle, and those tiny beads, with the tiny holes -- horrors. But after going I am so glad I took the step. Just remember, you're never too old to learn. I no longer have to worry about what to do about gifts for the female members of our family! I have been stitching up a storm for our upcoming 60th wedding anniversary where I will distribute some of my "wares."

Betty, some of the hobby shops give classes, like Hobby Lobby or Michaels. I also have had good luck just picking up a beading magazine. They almost always have a few projects for beginners.
