So I'm walking past the window in the living room and I see the birdfeeder rocking back and forth. I look out and underneath is Mrs. Sol (giving her every benefit of the doubt.) She's sniffing around looking for stuff, not paying any attention to the feeder. Then a bird that I THINK was a woodpecker comes flying over, lands on the feeder upside down like it's a suet cage, realizes it isn't, then goes flying away. Does that 2-3 more times, Mrs. Sol couldn't care less. Then another bird that I expertly identified as Not A Woodpecker comes flying in, doing the same thing, upside down, no dice, takes off, in a second. Then I see Sol coming from the bed under the window. He gets within a foot and a half of the misses, and she takes off at 100 mph with him right on her tail, so to speak. Off my property, across the road, to the house across the street, all over their yard, into their back yard, then they emerge on the neighbors's driveway and then out of sight. OK. So I'm getting ready to go out, and there's Mrs. Sol, back in her place, and this stupid bird on top of the crook. The birds can't figure out how to feed at this thing! But the squirrels so far aren't paying attention. Maybe because they have other things on their mind. This is going to be a very long day.
