Joanna, I meant that they should all be up by then and that is when you should be worried that something may have happened to them!!
Sorry for the confusion.

Oh, schvew! Just checked them again. I have serious spring fever. I want to be out there talking to my new tiny plants. Another something comes up every few hours but not the peonies. Crying It's okay, I'll talk to them anyway.

You've heard of crazy cat ladies? This is a crazy plant lady. Yup, that's me!

The neighbors probably think I pet mine. I was out this morning looking at the pink fernleaf growth. Quite a bit of tiny stems but nothing that look like a bud, unfortunately. I was crouched there, running my fingers over the foliage gently to see if maybe there was a tiny nub of a bud hidden, when I hear, "what'cha doing out there, Liz?" Oh well, I'll be the eccentric plant lady for the neighborhood. Better than the neighborhood drunk or mooch, right?

Agreed! Even though I know that the plants are there, its always a thrill to see them poke though the soil every spring. Great renewal!

So glad that your peonies are finally waking up, Joanna. Now, you just have to be a little more patient to see if any buds will develop from these pips. Smiling Smiling

Thanks @kausa! I'll be patient. I adore watching each moment of growth. So far, it's only one of four I planted in the fall so I wait with excitement!
