What a surprise-- a scape on the seedling cross of Katherine Caldwell X Dragonfly Dawn. This seed was planted probably in July or August of last year, and I never expected a scape until next year. The big plant of Katherine Caldwell has five scapes so it would seem that this seedling has inherited the early bloom genetics from it and Dragonfly Dawn, which is also an early bloomer but I haven't seen any scapes on it yet. I certainly hope that the bloom is pretty, and naturally I will post a picture when that happens.

I share your excitement! I have 20+ seedlings with bloom scapes and these will be the first ones I've ever grown from seed. All were started in my greenhouse last January-March

I forgot to post a picture of the scape. I hope it can survive the weather for it is grown in the ground and tomorrow we are supposed to have high winds. I will keep an eye on it, protect it if necessary--sure don't want to lose it.

How exciting! I can't wait to see everyones blooms!
