To my non expert eye, these plants look totally different from themselves by time of year and environmental factors and at any given moment, not very different from other unrelated weeds. If I hadn't continuously watched this patch of plants, I might not have believed they were the same plants.
Elsewhere in my yard, I still can't consistently distinguish them from similar looking plants at some stages.
