I don't know how I missed this thread D'Oh! I start mine inside beginning of April and bring the out end of May. I just started potting them up yesterday. They like the heat. I don't start moonflower from seed but will pick one up if I see them at the nursery. Purpureas seeds can go in the ground as soon as it warms up, as if that is going to happen this year Whistling

Allison, I'm in the same boat as you with my containers...the seedlings look like crap, stunted and some rotting away Grumbling

I would like to learn more about seedlings getting stunted. I have a big pot where the majority are stunted, but a couple or not. They have the same or similar conditions. I wonder why that happens.

Most annuals like the warmth and this weather hasn't been too cooperative that's for sure. My pentas were going like gangbusters in the house under lights and now they are barely growing. Same for the coleus Thumbs down Petunias on the other hand are fine.

I definitely find heat lovers only do well certain years for me. I try to grow some every year though since you never know what mother nature has in store for us!

When I lived in the southeast ranunculus would not grow for me but here in Pennsylvania (not sure if I'm northeast now or not?) they grow feral. lol

I had gladiolus survive the winter. Some were in the compost pile so they stayed warm but for the others, I don't know how.

First time I ever had Dahlias come back, and now seeing a few cannas I never dug up. I hate our wet cold spring but I'll take a mild winter any day.

I had glads come back before, this past winter I lost the ones I left hoping they'd overwinter. I ordered them a little late and they never even flowered for me

I have planted mine up to July 4th without a problem...we seem to be having cold, wet springs & warm, dry falls!
