Thank You! Debra! It is a great place to sit and relax! There is very little grass here. The grass that is here is in all the wrong places, like flowerbeds! Grumbling

Oh Ginny-- I hope you will love this thread. I have some fun and interesting ideas.

I have a fun story to tell later today. Forgot to water some new plants yesterday. Big no no here. Enjoy some coffee and smell the flowers until I return.

One evening my oldest daughter took her youngest sister with her to the store. Right after they had checked out the younger sister turned to her and said, "Did you see his name? Who would ever name their son that name-- Dick." Her older sister was horrified! Fear running through her mind as to what her sister was thinking. So she braced herself for the answer and calmly asked, "What do you mean?" Her sister said " Well, why would you want to name someone Dicholas? You know Nick--Nicholas and Dick-- Dicholas."

So I have this beautiful Noid to share pictures of. It is in an 18 inch pot.

Huge and captivating! I have been on a mission to find out it's name. Had been thinking of calling it the flying saucer or the dinner plate of daylilies! Who would ever think I would be sent a lost tag daylily that turns out to be Nicholas!! Hurray!
And better yet now it has two:

Beautiful garden Sharon! Speaking of names, my younger son, got 4 names...really does not like it when he has to sign legal docs.

Thank You! RJ! I can understand that problem of signing legal documents. Along time ago in Texas, a woman's middle name was automatically replaced by her maiden name on a driver's license. No option to keep your birth middle name. I liked my middle name's initial better. So my signature did not match my driver's license. Some legal documents require you to sign all possible versions of your name. So four names can fill a page especially if you have to do all versions of initials, too! I feel for your son.
May you and your entire family experience many blessings this year!

You know Ginny I was thinking I needed to explain that "Caffeinated Garden" part. It is the literal amount of caffeine in my garden! All my coffee grounds along with coffee grounds from anywhere that will let me have them, go into the garden. When the coffee in the pot got "old" I would fill the remainder of the pot with water and a different plant would have coffee, too. Everyday the plants and I drank coffee. One of my daughters got me a Keurig for Christmas so the coffee distribution is a little different now. My personal opinion is that coffee grounds should never go in the trash. If nothing else just sprinkle on the grass, under a bush or around a tree. Now I sit in the garden opening K cups and rinse out in a bucket.

Just think of the soil improvement in the USA, if all coffee grounds, banana peels, and egg shells were put back into the ground Hurray! ! It would take alot of work on everyone's part especially Businesses and urban dwellers might be at a disadvantage. But it would be an easy way to help the Earth.

It is a nice thought of reading the "Caffeinated Garden" with coffee in the mornings. Even though I know you are teasing me. Thumbs up That is a very good idea! I tip my hat to you. I will see how I can develop that in!

And just for fun, I was watched this morning. You have to open up the picture and find the "watcher"

Teasing and kidding mean the same thing to me. Although a better word choice would have been you were " funning" or joking with me! Teasing has become negative, but people used to tease you if they liked you.
But it did become a lovely thought with me that you could enjoy your coffee while seeing what's going on over here. So you are very Welcome! .
My kids would call that improper use of an emoji. nodding

And it is great when they photo bomb. We have one dog that photo bombs the other dogs. She equates pictures with treats and more pictures means more treats.
Thank you for the blessings and may you always be blessed, too!

My garden has gone through many stages. Normal grass has not been one of them. Just like in life there are before and afters, so my garden has them. How do you show it? Is it like weight loss before pic and after pic? What about the in-between times, what about now? I will focus on the present and when we are in garden down time, show older pictures. But here is a little background.

This was a mess. It used to be a field lot with dumping, weed trees, and stickers. I was going to live here with my daughter. We cleaned the lot it looked better. But no real grass, a nice crape myrtle, a huge pecan in the wrong place and an ornamental pomegranate. Lots of large bushes the size of trees and trees in fence lines. Poor, poor soil, extra hot, lots of roots from weed trees, and squirrels, moles and voles, lots of wildlife except no deer this close.

Her double wide was delivered in May and I had never seen so many June bugs. Like a plague they were everywhere. Cycle of life. June bugs lay eggs, eggs are grub worms, grub worms eat all plant roots in the soil. Somehow moles hear the smorgasbord and tear up everything getting there. Twice we tried to put in a lawn. All we did was waste money and water. Somewhere along the way I became her gardener. The garden was semi-sucessful. Some things made it but even more did not.
Couple of years later this became our temporary reprieve. Broken cement pieces.

The front yard layout had been done, or so I thought. Flower. gardens in with a with a mulched seating area. The mulch had only been spread for a week or two. When my daughter came home for lunch, talking about all this broken cement. I went to check it out. Later I spoke with the man who agreed to give me two or three weeks to get it all out of there. I personally brought home an entire 2 car driveway and laid it out in the front yard. Win for him because it was kept out of a landfill no dumping fees. Win for me I had beautiful free stone work.

Tomorrow -- How the blessing of getting the stones changed the garden dynamics. Until then beautiful garden pictures.
