All these beautiful violets! I always tell myself that I won't start on these because I loose track of them during the summer when I'm busy outdoors. But then I saw this one and now I can't help peaking around.

Seems like you all have one similar to this one.

Yes, I have to tell myself that every year. I start getting depressed looking at a dormant garden...and want some color inside. Somehow 5 AV's have quietly tip-toed into my grocery cart over the last couple of dreary months, and now are blooming nicely in my kitchen and office window. Like you, I get busy on the outside spring and summer, and don't manage to take care of them like I should, forget to water, whatever. Then before I know it they are dead. I must not let that happen this year!!

Yeah, I always figured they were too high-maintenance. Au contraire....

Here is one I picked up at Baker Nursery this last weekend. My picture does not do it justice. Love the purple to white blends.

That ones in my office, because at this time that one is my favorite. Always nice to be able to look at natures creativity when working from home. Kinda dull outside, since I just finished pruning back all my roses outside the office window. Just a lot f sticks showing up there now...lol!

Ah well - I guess it's an AV year for me.
Sheryl, I saw that same one yesterday and had to have it since the blooms were so large and the little stamens were whitish to match the flower.

Thumb of 2012-02-08/LorettaNJ/c705bf

Then this one because I thought is was the same as the purple one but actually it's a different color.

Thumb of 2012-02-08/LorettaNJ/38b4fa

And then there were these little ones... I like the little ones. They fit so nicely on a window sill.

And this one had little bell flowers...

Ugh! I really don't need another collection of plants! Pretty soon the Philly Show will be around and they always have a couple of AV vendors. I'm sure I won't resist or want to.

The ones in your 3rd pic were the first ones I picked out, but I was afraid that the plant was reverting when I saw a pure purple bloom, so I put it back. Have you had yours for long?

Definitely a nice collection, Loretta!

No Sheryl, I've been picking them up recently but thank you! I suppose we are getting them ultimately from the same wholesaler.
There were several of those speckled violets and all of them had purple blossoms mixed in. So yes, I thought they might revert too but it was only a couple of bucks. We'll see what happens. There are a lot of buds on the plant.

That speckled one sure is a beauty. I will be looking for that one this summer. The Lowes I worked in last summer put AV on clearance quite often. We had a lot of trouble maintaining them as they were displayed under hanging ferns and would end up over watered or slightly damaged from the dripping water.
Life is Great! Holly
