So, some of you may have seen that I am growing my first serious crop of seedlings right now. Not the best timing...I know. Anyway, I finished this set up a couple nights ago...



This is located in our basement. Some part of our air conditioner is also located in our basement and it is not working properly, so a repair man is scheduled to come today. Last night, DH was helping me put a few more trays of seedlings on the shelves when he turned to me with a panicked look and said "You HAVE to make sure the repair man knows these are daylilies"

You have to make sure he knows what kind of 'grow op' you have started

Years and years ago, I had a bunch of runaway kids show up at my house cause a couple of the girls used to be my neighbors. Anyway, I convinced some of them to go home, and called the cops for help.

One of them took note of the bright light emanating from the basement stairwell and said, "Mind if I have a look around?" I said, "Help yourself, officer".

Like I would call them if that basement wasn't loaded with tropical flowers and vegetable starts! I'd still be in jail!

Well, it turned out to be a friend who came to fix the air conditioner (we rent, so we had no idea who they were hiring), so we were in the clear. And just in time too; we had temps in the 90s yesterday!

Not sure if you know what the leaf of the Chaste tree looks like. It is a small flowering tree with blue flowers and I grow several in my gardening areas. I had started some cuttings in pots and a neighbor questioned what we were growing. My teenage son, Ashton thought it was funny and decided to decorate the garden . He found a discarded toilet and planted one of the Chaste tree cuttings in it and in marker on the raised lid, he wrote, POT. It is still out there in a daylily bed.

I used to grow Texas Star Hibiscus and everybody called it my Mary Jane plant. I used to get looks from people looking at the gardens.

I said the same thing when Direct tv came to my house to do an install.

I never would have thought of it. These stories are funny

When the direct tv guy came back up stairs, he was talking about running a wire. He said he ran it by the rack with my "plants" and did the quotation with his fingers. Now I could be wrong, but I think marijuana is typically grown with a hydroponics system indoors. Which is not the case of my setup. Though I was waiting for the police to show up after he left. But those marijuana growers sure have figured out the indoor growing processes. A good friend of mine, a long time lily grower, once told me, if you have a growing indoors question, ask a pot grower or one of their resources.

Everytime I needed help and I would search, those were the sites with the info. They know how to fertilize, kill insects, usually all organically.
Used to be it took a guess as to what they were talking about. Since it has been legalized in places it is pretty open discussion about growing. Times have changed!

We had a home a few streets over that the elec company noticed a large draw on the system. Discovered a large pot operation growing in the house, lots of mold because of all of the water required. Unfortunately it was a rental home, not good news for the owners.
