That was so sweet. Thanks for sharing.

I too am leary of some charities. Especially the ones who pay high saleries to staff and CEOs, can afford millions of dollars for almost constant TV,radio, & printed media propaganda. So many of the animals that are saved should have been put down immediately. They suffer just so humans can brag about having saved them and then want others to pay for it.

I too give to local food banks as well as some well known organizations who help people around the world. I work at a thrift store that is the primary source of income for a local food bank that services close to a thousand families a month. I use to do volunteer work at the food bank. I think humans are more important than animals. Don't get me wrong, I have lots of pets, but when they are incurably ill or suffer an injury that permenantly alters their life negatively I will end their suffering. And I won't spend money on a vet bill if I can't afford to keep food on the table or buy medicine.

I heard a great statement from the head of the American Humaine Soc. I think it was Bill Birrud ( sp ) he said we are responsable for animal welfare when we domesticated animals thousands of years ago. It is up to us to make sure their end comes humainely. I had to euthanize a cat last summer. t was very hard but he was suffering with kidney failure.I tell my vet that I need guidance when it comes to when the right time is. I have seen well meaning people keep a pet that clearly needs to exit. These people are just trying to sooth themselves.
