I was having thoughts of not being able to pull all of the cherry laurel & Phyllanthus sprouts... and then, as if on cue, while pulling the darn things, I saw an anole so tiny it must have just hatched from somewhere very nearby, and a toad that was smaller than the tip of my little finger. Then I remembered who I was and where I was, and kept pulling...

Because those species don't deserve to die out! Having experienced very severe droughts that wiped out just about everything temporarily, I know what it's like to helplessly watch as even Mother Nature kills, so I don't want to kill much, I want to help preserve as much as I can.
I would feel more optimistic about a bright future for man if he spent less time proving that he can outwit Nature and more time tasting her sweetness and respecting her seniority. E. B.White

I agree

I'm thankful to be in an area where my neighbors don't use much of the nasty stuff, either. My poor mother was just complaining about her new next-door neighbor spraying... lo and behold, she has far less wildlife of all kinds in her garden this year.
