I'm not even sure if this is the right time of year to be cuttings. I would like some of the old roses from long ago. I have a list started of "heirloom" roses from a website but I'm not picky.

There is a rose bush in front of our house that refuses to die. We have tried repeatedly to kill it. Still, it grows. It blooms. The blooms are fairly simple. Have no clue what variety it is but it could be about 40-50 years old. I would be willing to send you some cuttings if you want or I could take some photos first to see if you are interested.

Not sure what's going on with my phone but I replied & it's not showing. So I'll try again. Yes, I would love to try cuttings!!!! I love the idea of old plants & the stories they could tell. Thank you!!! Just let me know details (address, etc.)

I don't know about the time of year or how to store them to send them to you, but if you're interested I'll find out. My grandma has an old rose bush that's been there at least all my life (35 years) as far as I know, probably longer. She just calls them old English roses. Here's a picture of one that looks like hers.

Maybe not exactly like that but really close if that's not it. And they smell really really good too.

I usually strike rose cuttings in fall-winter once I'm sure the ground is going to stay wet until the following spring-summer. I place about 5 or 6 cuttings directly in the spot I want a new rose to grow. I have a very good success rate.
I would like to trade cuttings for cuttings this fall. I'll put together a list of what I have and post it soon.

Here is a pic of The Fairy and Green Snake this year from winter 2016 cuttings.
