I joined because I found a spiderplant question I thought I could help with, then thought "well, hey, if I was going to be a part of an association, why not a gardening-oriented one?," so I'm here to stay!

I have relatively narrow gardening fields in which I find I have enough knowledge to assist someone else. Mainly, this is spider plants (ribbon plant, airplane plant, St. Bernard's Lily, Chlorophytum Comosum, tape plant, malamadre/bad mother plant, etc.), as I have experience both saving spideys from themselves and propagating the heck out of them (such that no spidey in my house isn't propagated by me, including the biggest "mother plants," which I propagated probably ten-ish years ago, now).

I also have a collection of porthos and arrowleaf plants, which I thought were philodendrons until today's latest research binge. Sadly, Sygnium Coulson doesn't have the same ring as Philodendron Coulson, and he had to be renamed (as I'm saving that pun for a philodendron friend). Sygnium Vision is his new name.

I like ivy, and my Boston (English?) ivy liked me so much that I decided to give other ivies a go! Here's hoping for the best.

Hi Zack. Welcome!
Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to take decent photos of each and every one of your plants, upload the best pictures to the database (nice clear, in focus, no fingers or toes, etc.) so we can all enjoy your plants. This message will not self-destruct in 5 seconds, so you have plenty of time to complete the mission. Hurray! Hurray! I tip my hat to you.

Hi Zack, Welcome! from me too! You will love this amazing on-line gardening community!

Here are links to our database for the plants that you mentioned you like to grow and propagate. You will find many photos as well as growing information:

Spider Plants (Chlorophytum): https://garden.org/plants/sear...
Pothos/Devil's Ivy (Epipremnum): Pothos (Epipremnum aureum)
Arrowhead Vine (Syngonium) : https://garden.org/plants/sear...
English Ivy (Hedera): https://garden.org/plants/sear...

By the way, Pothos and Arrowhead Plant are in the same plant family (Araceae) as Philodendron!

I learned, the other day, that I have German Ivy (better known, probably, as cape ivy) -- it still loves me, despite my consistent misidentification over the last year or so.

I already quite love it here, by the way! Such lovely people. Lovey dubby

This would actually be quite the accomplishment! I've been stress-managing through indoor gardening, so I have shelves of plants, young and mature. Big Grin

However, you never know when you need something to fill a day with. I just might give such a specific and intriguing mission an attempt . . . I tip my hat to you.
