This just appeared in my daughter's yard (in northern Virginia, zone 7a); it was planted by the previous homeowner and we don't know what it is.
There is no foliage yet.
Does anyone recognize it?

It is a member of the amaryllis family but it has many names because of its unique characteristics of sending up leaves first, dying down, and then sending up a flower stalk. A couple of names I am familiar with are "Naked Lady" and Resurrection Lily".

How long has it been there? Just since spring, or did it winter over?
