I was hoping for a detailed set of instructions on how to cross-breed irises, from the beginning.

I know that a few of you are getting to be pretty good "pollen daubers".

Also, the basic traits that we should all look for in our crosses besides color and shape...like branching, sequential blooms...etc.

I have read many posts here on what to do with the pods afterwards. I am probably not the only one who might be interested in this. Also, what are the best books to read on Iris genetics and what YouTube videos are the best?

Want to learn from Paul Black? Take a look here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?...

If you do a search for 'Iris breeding' on youtube, you will get a number of other instruction videos with the very basic principles and some practical advice.
Of course I talk to myself; sometimes I need expert advice!

Iris Genetics and Hybridizing with Dr. Kenneth Kidd - Part 1 - Breeding Iris, The Basics was another great YouTube video. If I recall right there was a Part 2 video also.

Barbara & Lilli ~ Yes, I was going to look at youtube videos. I was surprised to find real pros in the mix, not just amateurs. I appreciate you taking the time to share the specific links. I tip my hat to you.

I can't believe that this is where it began for me. i planted my first large batch of rhizomes in the summer of 2017, and then I made my first crosses in the summer of 2018. Now I am looking forward to the seedlings' first bloom this year.

Thank you everyone for your encouragement and suggestions. I'm on "pins and needles"!
