Yes, Happy New Year! I have this rose labeled New Year, but I have my doubts, so I may be getting 2012 off on a false note.

Believe it or not, just got home!! Went to a friends apartment for the night, ate chicken wings, salsa & chips, & played video games all night!! It was great!! I didnt want to get on the road between midnight & 2am - too many drunks - so we got on the road at 4am & it's a 45 minute drive. Safe at home now, no problems, just heading off to bed for a few hours sleep before having to get up to pick up the dogs at daycare.

Happy happy new years to everyone!! Let's hope that 2012 is better than 2011!!

I used to always go out on New Years Eve with my friends back when I was young. That would be to a classy bar with a new years band and party were you needed reservations. Then later after being married used to go out with friends and have dinner on new years eve at a local resturant. Can't remember but we probably have reservations then too. But as I got older I just didn't want to go out on New Years Eve as I worried too much about people on the road driving drunk.

That's my life too. I always went to New Year's parties in clubs, then started going out to dinner instead when the party life got to be too much, and finally chose to stay inside on New Year's Eve. Too many drunks on the road.

Budget cuts have slashed my contract to the point that I'm essentially retired this year, so I should have much more time to devote to the garden, the house, and the cats. For one thing, I'm going to strive for a more decent living schedule. I've been staying up working until 6:00 or 7:00 in the morning and getting up in the afternoon, which has left very little time for gardening when the days are short. I've always had a body clock that worked better at night, but I think I'll strive to get to bed by 2:00 from now on.

I stay home on New Year's eve to protect the animals from the neighbors' fireworks. On one occasion our neighbor to the south was shooting off huge fiery rockets that were landing in one of our pastures causing panic among the horses.

I used to babysit a neighbor's dog on New Year's Eve so that her owners could go out. She had a deathly fear of sudden loud noises and needed to be calmed down.
