YAY!! aside from the damage.

We've had a cold day. The was a wide circle around the sun this afternoon - it looked like a big rainbow over the farm. Stan was back cutting a little wood and looked up and there it was.

Just back from a walk to the woods. Didn't go in, the woods is south of us and the wind is out of the south and by the time I got to the edge, I was ready for the hike back. It is cold enough that what snow is left is glittering in the sunshine. Both the dogs went with me. Blaze was sniffing deer tracks and checking out the scents left behind, Mitzi was hunting mice and got at least one. She is pregnant and at that "I can't get enough to eat!" phase. Another litter of pups due the end of February. Maybe they'll be leap year pups.

No snow here, Kathleen, but rain is moving in (again). I had hoped to finish putting on new plastic on one end of the greenhouse but can't handle it well in the wet and wind. I'd much rather be walking with you and the dogs in the snow to the woods!

Looks to me like I'll be "shoffice bound" with the wood stove churning out some heat while I place orders for seeds, cuttings, supplies, etc. (Ugh, a day of spending money, not making any.)

Maybe I should put something on the stove to slow cook for supper, eh? Gotta have something smelling up the place! Beef stew? Beef/Veggie stew? Maybe a crock pot full of Boston butt for bbq? A slow-roasted chicken? Decisions, decisions....

Happy Day, all!

Stan is testing tonight, so I have a little extra time. It is cold, excessively windy and the lake snow is getting wound up for a long winter's night. Right now the bands are more to the north of us, but will be moving down as the wind direction shifts overnight.

The thing is, we're ready for it - Stan got the snowblower on the new tractor this morning and everything is battened down and in out of the weather. I just need to find a sweater, even with the wood furnace going it's chilly in here.

We got our snow yesterday. And it's sposed to be really crappy the beginning of the week. I heard snow turning to sleet. And we have milking job all next week 20 miles away. We are planning on crashing at the guy's house every night. Saves worry on if we'll get back in the morning.

Milked last night and this morning for a neighbor gal 3 miles down the road. Went ok. Have to milk for her again the 24th and 25th.

I'm inviting you for brunch..........here is my contribution. Garlic-parmesan rolls with honey butter. It was requested I bring them for a group pot-luck today. You may each have one, since I will have extras. LOL

I just took them out of the oven so they will be hot and tasty. And with the honey butter melting down the sides...........ohhhh, mama...........

Green Grin!

Those rolls looks so good. I'll pass on the honey butter since they are garlic parmasan flavored already. Don't want to dilute those yummy flavors with anything. Maybe you could find some plain or garlic flavored butter for them?

Winter here has been crazy. In the 50s and 60s for a couple days, then an artic blast comes in and the temps drop to the teens at night and 30s, and maybe 40s in the daytime for a couple days. Then another warm trend. It has been like this most of the past couple months. We've had 2 light snows so far. This last one stayed on the ground for a couple days but there wasn't but about 1/2" in our yarden.

GOD bless and keep each of you. .

We started a 6-day milking and chore job today. Runs through Sat. Night milking. Has gone fine so far, tho we did have to pull a calf this morning before we went back home. Mother and son doing fine, tho mom was a bit of a pill at milking time. We are staying at the couples house so we don't ha ve to travel that extra 40 miles if we made another trip. Plus it is just better we are here in the morning in case of bad weather during the night.

Well, I wonder what things await in the barn this morning? SU tied the offending water cup paddle up so the beasts can't use it. So ,if there is a flood, it won't be from that one, at least. Green Grin!

I put in a new water trough in the north pasture this fall and the ungrateful cows have broken the float valve three times so far - pigs!
