janyss471 said: OK. This caught my attention. Unless they were tree peonies, I would be very interested to know how they happened to bloom when I can't get mine to bloom in a couple of hours or direct sun with the rest dappled shade.
joannakat said: @janyss471, they need full sun for at least 6 hours each day. Mine get that until late summer/fall when they, as I wrote, are surrounded by other tall-growing plants which shade them. Then they get dappled sun, but the weather is intense...hot and humid with lots of rain until it starts snowing in the winter. They bloom beautifully, but they have at least 6 hours of full sun daily.

janyss471 said: It certainly looks like you've had success with them. Congratulations. However, my puzzlement was more directed to the fact that the member below had some in "fairly deep shade" and, somehow, got them to bloom. Am wondering what magic was worked for that to happen.
janyss471 said: To a person who has yearned to grow them for sixty years and never could, it's a banquet.
joannakat said: Well, I hope you can find a sunny area where you can grow more than one, and that they will flourish beautifully. Good luck!
