RosyDawn won't be having any discounts this year. They are trying to keep costs down. Two people run that company,Glenn said they would need to raise shipping prices at some time but will be able to keep the price as it is now if they dont run the classified.
He was under the impression DG didnt allow co-ops anyway. Their 2 year special price event was aclassified.

I put th thread here because a few people on Coleus had asked about weather RD was giving its discount this year.
I thought because some gardeners use coleus in containers and do business with RD it might help get the news out.
Hope I havnt created a problem.

Not a problem at all. It was just the way it was worded confused me.

So they will be giving no discounts this year? That is understandable, the nurseries have really been impacted by the economy. Sad

Sad about Rosie Dawn, but I'm sure Juanita or someone else will have coleus for our containers this year. Thanks for the heads up Jo.

I'll still buy from Rosy Dawn unless I don't have the money. They're one of our best growers and I don't want them to go out of business. Can't do containers without each other AND Rosy Dawn!

I haven't placed an order yet. : (

I think I will do what I did last year, go to Al's Garden Center and choose from there large selection of Coleus.

Last year I saw some pretty, healthy looking named coleus at 2 different local greenhouses/nurseries. They were good sized plants in 4" pots. They didn't have nearly the selection that Rosy Dawn has, but I might get a few from those places this year, support local businesses.

And if I can just get my own saved coleus looking better and take some cuttings from those, I'll have a start. I've really made an effort in the last few weeks to pay more attention to watering, pinching, and turning and some are looking better than they had before. They're still small, but looking better. I think I can at least get cuttings from a lot of them.
