Just got back from our weekly shopping and got a chance to really check them out. I love JOVIALITY, STRAWBERRY SHAKE, WATERLINE and HEARTY BURGUNDY. But I'll have to check the parentage on his new introductions when I get his catalog before I make any decisions. And I always want to get some of his Barry Blyth newbies from him, too. Now that I'm focusing so much on daylilies it's getting a lot harder to find $$ for the irises!

I got my catalog yesterday, and I was struck by Keith's message at the end of the descriptions of his new introductions where he noted they probably won't have a full catalog next year and one of the options they are considering is to just have a listing of current-introductions-only from now on. I'm thinking that he may be starting to reduce or eliminate the large selection of Blyth irises he carries because there are quite a few of the very recent Blyths in his catalog that I've been waiting for and expected to be around $50, but he has them priced closer to $30. And he is the only one who really carries the newest Blyths, so I'm carefully going through his Blyth offerings to decide what I really really want and will probably buy more than I'd previously planned to purchase because they simply may not be there next year!

good thinking. We don't get Blyth TBs because of the climate difference but we have grown many of his medians.

A couple of years ago, Keith mentioned to me in an e-mail that due to the very cold and wet spring they had that year, that he had written off the year for crosses. Seems he was unable to get many seed pods to make it to maturity. Could be that he won't have many new seedlings from that year. I am dying to get my hands on Luxuiant Lathario I ordered it last year, and it was sold out. I don't see it in Keith's catalog this year. The same thing happened to me before when I ordered Rogue Traider. I was so bumbed when it wasn't in the next year's offerings, But, when I got my next order, he gifted me one. I was like a kid in a candy store.
I will have to get Strawberry Shake, and Joviality at the very least. Now don't hold me down to only 2! If I order before my 3rd cup of coffee, you never know what I'll do.

Tom, I got LUXURIANT LOTHARIO from Joe Ghio last year for the same price that Keith had it for. And Joe usually drops the prices quite a bit by the next year. So when I get his catalog I'll let you know if it's there.

I'm worried after Keith's statement in his catalog that if you see something you want you should get it this year because there's a very good chance it will be gone by next year, plus he reduced the prices so much on so many of his newer Blyth irises that I started to get the feeling that he was hoping to get rid of them. And when we exchanged emails about my order I even mentioned that was why I ordered so many Blyths this time -- and he didn't say anything to the contrary when he wrote back. So I'm thinking he's going to cut back on the Blyths now too. So I may even add to my order later by email after I've had a chance to see Joe's catalog. Joe puts quite a few Blyths in his Bargain Section for $4 to $9, and I love to take advantage of those when I can!

Thanks Betty, I know that Keith is not getting any younger, so he may be cutting back his work load some. I sure do love his irises, so I hope he can keep developing them for many more years.
