Baja_Costero said:What is the plant?
plantmanager said:ZuZu can probably explain this to you, Keith. The Cat of Life is used a lot in deciding which plants will be in our database here.
dave said:Post a photo here of the seed packet, so we can try to figure out the proper name of this plant.
dave said:This is what you proposed:
Genus: Tagetes
Species: erecta tall
Cultivar: Chrysanthemum shape
Trade name: Russian Marigold
Series: Chrysanthemum shape
Common name: Russian Marigold
Almost everything about that is wrong.
This plant is not part of a series and has no trade name. Also, "Chrysanthemum shape" is not a cultivar name, it is a description of the plant and does not belong anywhere in the plant entry. Ditto with the word "tall" - that is not part of the species epithet.
You have a yellow form of African Marigold (Tagetes erecta)

I don't see a cultivar name anywhere on that packet. What is the cultivar name?
dave said:I don't see a cultivar name on the URL you just gave me.
