ok, where is the coop with the roses? If you don't feel comfortable posting it here, send me a tree mail. Thanks! Hurray!

We have two Knockout Rainbow roses and only because a sales person talked my husband into the great deal, ha ha, while he was calling to check on a seed order he placed. They are boring but do have a place with some people who just want lots of (not beautiful) blooms or just color.

Oso Easy Mango Salsa is one I bought last October and I am entering it on the database today.

That's a nice one, Pirl. The Oso Easy series never did make it to my local nurseries, or at least I haven't seen them there, so they must need colder winters to thrive.

You know I have my problems with roses, Zuzu, so I'm just content that it lived over the summer. I may move it to a spot where it will show up more.

The Oso Easy series is sold here, but they have not performed well in my garden. They stayed the same size they were when I bought them, and I was lucky to see 2 blossoms in the entire season.
Drift roses planted in the same bed took off like fireworks.
I'm wondering if they would do better in pots? Are they the kind that need root confinement?

zuzu said:Unfortunately, I'm not sure that people want variety. You and I want variety, but most people just want something that will grow and bloom reliably, and now that there are several types of Knock Out roses in different colors, that's enough variety for them.

Well people need display and color in parks. They want form and perfume and color at home. I take care of 20 or so roses and knock outs need food and water just like any rose. People neglect them. They can harbor disease for that reason. They are dense shrubs.

What problems are you referring to?

The number one problem was deer but I now have all roses in the safety of a garden with deer fencing and the rose garden is now surrounded by deer netting.

Oh dear, my parents had the same problem - glad to hear you were able to solve it. Nice rose photo - keep them coming.

A 12 foot deer proof fence isn't practical for me. Anything less would be a waste of time. That is alright. A stockade fence would limit my sun anyway. So, I spray, and spray, and spray....

I just submitted a pair of articles on deer deterrents featuring my diy bambi-be-gone spray (and Winston the pug's favorite recipe for venison stew). If it is accepted, I'll post a link.

I neglected spraying the past few weeks while my life was beyond crazy. Bambi and co ate the last blooms and many of the leaves off my roses!!!

The deer leave the naturalized multiflora roses alone unless it is a really bad winter.

I was given a nearly dead rose by a friend whose husband passed away. We were able to save it and it has tyrned out to be a glorious rose. I was told by a local plant expert that the rose is most liley part of the" Oh So" series. It is very hardy and easy to maintain. I'm in Western Washington and this rose does grow much taller than described, that is, if this is an "Oh So" rose.

Actually looks more like Strike it Rich to me than an Oh So rose.
