any input?

I need to change it to the correct name *Blush*

Thanks

They are very similar! Lychnis alba looks most likely as it has long curled stamens..

http://www.cod.edu/people/facu...

I noticed many photos don't have the long stamens, that can be explained by it being male or female, a description here..

Silene noctiflora for comparison ..

I had a better look at the first link Janet gave of Silene alba, and it does looks like your plant, Cindy.
Silene alba seems to be is a synonym of Silene latifolia subsp. alba

There seems to be a lot of confusion about the accepted name though. Rolling my eyes.

I assumed Cinda had both of the plants she mentioned and knew it would be one of those. I didn't check the correctness of the name though as it appeared on sites which were educational, but it was going through my mind how much like Silene it was! On ITIS Lychnis alba is a synonym of Silene latifolia.

http://www.itis.gov/servlet/Si...

There's subspecies of Silene latifolia, Silene latifolia subsp. alba is an accepted name also.

http://www.theplantlist.org/tp...

On the Plant List "Lychnis alba Mill.is a synonym of Silene latifolia subsp. alba" so Silene latifolia subsp. alba would appear to be the correct name. Good job you checked it out Myriam. Smiling

I was also messed up by the confusing names Janet! Hilarious!
I said your first link being from Silene alba while I should have written Lychnis alba! Rolling my eyes.

.If you were you looking for the hairy characteristic (not clear from original query), Silene stellata reportedly has a hairy calyx

Nice photos , Rick

You might add them to the database , if you have not already done so Smiling
Oh, and a caption of'' wild collected seed from Japan''would be excellent information.

Just an idea
