Today I finally potted up the clems and the little white stems literally started to leaf out during the day. I'm very happy with my co-op plants.

I think you must have elves sneaking stuff in through the back door when you aren't looking! Hilarious!

My clems are looking good! The first batch really seem to be doing well! Got the second ones potted up Saturday. Hee hee, it's going to be fun to see what the mystery one turns out to be! Hilarious! Had to pot up the Oriental lilies, too; little rascals were already a couple of inches tall! I did have the bright idea to pot them up in grow bags instead of pots. That way, I can just snip the bottom out of the bag and slide them out when the garden thaws out. Smiling

Woofie, that's a great idea. You should offer it as a tip! Even those of us who aren't in cold zones, sometimes don't have time to dig holes in the garden.

Thanks, Sandi. It's sort of the same idea as using coffee cans with the bottom cut out. (I did submit that one as a tip) Actually, I've combined the two: put a grow bag inside a coffee can (for better support) and then just slid the whole thing out the bottom of the can into a hole, snipping the bag open in the process. Works great!

Not everyone's going to have 16 coffee cans, but they will have 16 plastic bags to use! I wish I had seen this before IIplanted some caladium bulbs in pots to jump start them. i could have placed them in plastic bags with soil, then into a large container until I was sure the weather wouldn't turn ugly, then snip the bag and place them into the garden without jostling the roots too much.

I've been thinking about trying the plastic grocery bags, since they have handles you can use to pull them out of the pots. Maybe use two together since they're kind of flimsy. Wouldn't work for anything too large, tho, 'cause I know they tear pretty easily.

a supplier doubled shipped me and i cant return the roots Thumbs down Thumbs down that is how i ended up with so many extra they arrived Saturday. i just about fell over thinking i was dont getting plants for this co-op. we had been going back and forth about price and shipping i guess i said yes to 2 emails id take roots and that gave me 2 orders but it is strange they where send 2 months apart from each other. sa la vie part of doing a co-op when you have so many suppliers and different plants. i cant work up ground to plant so if no one wants them maybe ill plant in a few 45 gal pots and try to sell them next year as bigger plants.

great tip woofie love it some people root plumeria that way but i just root the old fasion way of in pots i dont know if i will ever plant any think in the ground again here we will see

Mike, maybe you should do a separate thread for those asparagus roots. I could have sworn there was someone who wanted them who missed out.

I have some one who wants some roots. Let me find out how many. When you can shoot me a price to tell him. Don't think he will take all of them but any amount can help.
